In the 17-minute podcast, Deady reviews challenges associated with the inability of providers to track portable assets, physicians and nurses, and monitor the temperature of blood products and tissues. Surgeons and staff at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia, which operates one of the country’s busiest perioperative centers, are using the system.

Previously, NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia, which integrated the Awarepoint awareSurgical application with its operating room (OR) scheduling and EHR software, found it challenging to coordinate patient care and communicate with each other because the surgery department physically was spread out across two different buildings and two separate floors. Another logistical issue was that each building had a separate perioperative area spanning the pre-operative, operative, and post-operative phases. The RTLS data, as well as extensive data from other systems, is processed through the Awarepoint Rules Engine to help facilitate the flow of patients through the hospital, improving throughput times and creating a more healing environment.

Carlene Anteau, M.S., R.N.

As vice president of product marketing, Anteau will be responsible for supporting the sales team, optimizing brand awareness, driving thought leadership and content management, supporting customer service initiatives, and providing direction for product development.

Anteau brings 10 years of experience as a critical care nurse and 14 years of healthcare information technology experience to Awarepoint. Prior to joining the company, Anteau held clinical software sales and marketing leadership positions for over 11 years at McKesson Corporation. Those posts included vice president of health systems enterprise solutions marketing and clinical sales executive for the midwest region. Anteau also served as regional sales manager at Planar Systems Inc., representing their medical-grade hardware.

Anteau was a critical care clinical nurse specialist at the University of Chicago Hospitals and Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in Oklahoma City. She has published and spoken nationally on a variety of topics including disaster preparedness and point-of-care computing. She holds a bachelor’s of science degree in nursing from the University of Toledo and a master’s of science degree in medical-surgical nursing from the University of Michigan.

Erica Davidson, M.A., H.R.M., P.H.R. 

In the role of vice president of human resources (HR), Davidson will lead HR activities including organizational planning and development, talent recruitment and development, benefits and compensation, creation and execution of staffing strategies, employee development programs, and performance management.

Before joining Awarepoint, Davidson held positions of progressive responsibility at Breg Inc., a $100 million entity acquired by Orthofix International, a leading medical device company renowned for orthopedic care advancements. As manager of human resources, Davidson oversaw the implementation and administration of HR programs and worked closely with management regarding employee relations, talent acquisition, performance management, compensation, benefit management, and training and development. Davidson holds a bachelor’s of arts degree in sociology from the University of the Pacific, Stockton, Calif., and a master’s degree in human resource management from the University of Westminster, London.

SAN DIEGO – Feb. 2, 2012 –Cementing its position as the leading provider of workflow optimization and location software for hospitals and medical office buildings, Awarepoint Corporation announced today that it signed a record 191 contracts with new and existing clients in 2011 for its aware360°Suite of RTLS-enabled healthcare solutions. These new contracts cover a total of 89 facilities which have implemented Awarepoint’s technology to improve clinical efficiency and quality, patient tracking, and operational and cost efficiencies. These contracts increased the number of customers to 123 healthcare systems, 186 hospital sites, and an industry-leading number of over 300,000 asset tags under management. Tags contracted are up 176% from 2010 and square foot coverage increased 55%.

Awarepoint’s record-setting year and strong momentum entering 2012 were propelled partly by the firm’s 2011 acquisition of Patient Care Technology Systems (PCTS) and reputation for superb service as reported in a recent KLAS report. The new patents broadly cover Awarepoint’s most accurate mesh-based location algorithm to date, methods for detecting improperly sterilized medical equipment, and wireless technology architectures that drive enterprise wide visibility applications:

• Patent No. 8,033,462 for a wireless tracking system and method of automatically determining if medical and surgical supplies and equipment have been properly sterilized, helping to improve patient safety and quality of care.
• Patents No.  8,031,120 and 8,040,238 provide a process to enhance the detection of the exact location of hospital equipment and medical and surgical supplies.
• Patent No.  8,041,369 describes multiple wireless technologies that precisely track hospital workflows, improve enterprise-wide visibility, and optimize revenue cycle management.

Wallace brings an exceptional combination of leadership experience from managing complex hospital systems, to providing strategic guidance in business development, product management, sales, and marketing. At Awarepoint, she will be responsible for aligning product development initiatives with customer needs and healthcare technology trends for workflow automation and process improvement methodologies. Wallace earned a Master of Nursing Administration degree from Emory University in Atlanta and a bachelor of science in nursing from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta.

As senior vice president of sales, Eastern US, Chris Cosgrove will be responsible for driving client expansion and new client sales in the East. Cosgrove comes to Awarepoint from McKesson where he led the national clinical sales team to generate over $350 million in annual revenue. Before joining McKesson in 2002, Cosgrove managed all Northeast new business sales for Cerner Corporation. Cosgrove held field sales representative and management roles at GE Marquette Medical Systems prior to Cerner. Cosgrove is a graduate of Fairfield University in Fairfield, Conn. and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing.

Newly appointed vice president of client management, Greg Arthur, brings more than 20 years of strategic business development, top sales results, and IT consulting to propel new account growth and satisfaction with existing client relationships. Before joining Awarepoint, Arthur served as director of Microsoft’s global and enterprise customer team, leading a Southeast US sales and technical resources team to achieve greater market penetration and product adoption while achieving the top ranking nationally for enterprise account satisfaction. Arthur joined Microsoft in 2002 and served in several roles including specialist sales manager for core infrastructure and unified communications and business productivity. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Nichols College in Dudley, Mass.

Carla Gallegos will lead Awarepoint’s national account sales strategy in the Western US. Carla has over 25 years of experience in the health care industry, dedicated to providing systems, solutions and services to leading academic medical centers and integrated delivery networks. She has an extensive background in healthcare operations and healthcare IT sales, management, development, and working for healthcare provider organizations. She was most recently working for Cisco Systems, Inc., prior to joining Awarepoint.  Gallegos’ proven sales performance and consistent history of outperforming expectations resulted in numerous sales leadership and solution innovation awards while at Cisco Systems.  From 1991-2006, Gallegos worked for Eclipsys (now AllScripts) as a senior sales executive. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Health Services Administration from St. Mary’s College and a Masters of Business Administration from Golden Gate University.
