Carlene Anteau, M.S., R.N.

SAN DIEGO – November 15, 2011 – Awarepoint Corporation, today announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has awarded the company four additional patents, which brings their total portfolio to 20 and bolsters the company’s position as the leading innovator of real-time wireless location systems (RTLS) for hospitals.

The new patents broadly cover Awarepoint’s most accurate mesh-based location algorithm to date, methods for detecting improperly sterilized medical equipment, and wireless technology architectures that drive enterprise wide visibility applications:

• Patent No. 8,033,462 for a wireless tracking system and method of automatically determining if medical and surgical supplies and equipment have been properly sterilized, helping to improve patient safety and quality of care.
• Patents No.  8,031,120 and 8,040,238 provide a process to enhance the detection of the exact location of hospital equipment and medical and surgical supplies.
• Patent No.  8,041,369 describes multiple wireless technologies that precisely track hospital workflows, improve enterprise-wide visibility, and optimize revenue cycle management.

SAN DIEGO – October 24, 2011 – Awarepoint Corporation, the leading provider of real-time location system (RTLS) enabled solutions for healthcare, announced the hiring of four senior management executives to support significant expansion of its aware360°Suite of RTLS-enabled solutions in hospitals and clinics. Merrie Wallace, R.N., B.S.N., M.N., will serve as executive vice president of product solutions, reporting to Awarepoint CEO Jay Deady. Chris Cosgrove was appointed senior vice president of sales – Eastern United States, Greg Arthur will serve as vice president of client management, and Carla Gallegos was named vice president of national account sales – Western United States. Cosgrove, Arthur, and Gallegos will report to Ralph Keiser, executive vice president of client solutions.

After 20 years of innovating with McKesson Corporation and other healthcare technology companies and healthcare provider organizations in strategic executive roles, Wallace joins Awarepoint as executive vice president of product solutions. Wallace brings an exceptional combination of leadership experience from managing complex hospital systems, to providing strategic guidance in business development, product management, sales, and marketing. At Awarepoint, she will be responsible for aligning product development initiatives with customer needs and healthcare technology trends for workflow automation and process improvement methodologies. Wallace earned a Master of Nursing Administration degree from Emory University in Atlanta and a bachelor of science in nursing from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta.

As senior vice president of sales, Eastern US, Chris Cosgrove will be responsible for driving client expansion and new client sales in the East. Cosgrove comes to Awarepoint from McKesson where he led the national clinical sales team to generate over $350 million in annual revenue. Before joining McKesson in 2002, Cosgrove managed all Northeast new business sales for Cerner Corporation. Cosgrove held field sales representative and management roles at GE Marquette Medical Systems prior to Cerner. Cosgrove is a graduate of Fairfield University in Fairfield, Conn. and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing.

Newly appointed vice president of client management, Greg Arthur, brings more than 20 years of strategic business development, top sales results, and IT consulting to propel new account growth and satisfaction with existing client relationships. Before joining Awarepoint, Arthur served as director of Microsoft’s global and enterprise customer team, leading a Southeast US sales and technical resources team to achieve greater market penetration and product adoption while achieving the top ranking nationally for enterprise account satisfaction. Arthur joined Microsoft in 2002 and served in several roles including specialist sales manager for core infrastructure and unified communications and business productivity. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Nichols College in Dudley, Mass.

Carla Gallegos will lead Awarepoint’s national account sales strategy in the Western US. Carla has over 25 years of experience in the health care industry, dedicated to providing systems, solutions and services to leading academic medical centers and integrated delivery networks. She has an extensive background in healthcare operations and healthcare IT sales, management, development, and working for healthcare provider organizations. She was most recently working for Cisco Systems, Inc., prior to joining Awarepoint.  Gallegos’ proven sales performance and consistent history of outperforming expectations resulted in numerous sales leadership and solution innovation awards while at Cisco Systems.  From 1991-2006, Gallegos worked for Eclipsys (now AllScripts) as a senior sales executive. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Health Services Administration from St. Mary’s College and a Masters of Business Administration from Golden Gate University.

SAN DIEGO – October 14, 2011 – Awarepoint Corporation, the leading provider of real-time location system (RTLS) enabled solutions for health care, and MEDITECH, a leading supplier of Health Care Information Systems (HCIS), today announced a collaboration to integrate technologies to provide emergency departments (EDs) with real-time patient location and critical milestone tracking within MEDITECH’s enterprise-wide electronic health record (EHR) software. Western, PA-based Monongahela Valley Hospital (MVH), a 210-bed facility, is the first hospital in the country to deploy the integrated solution to improve quality of care, workflow, safety, efficiency and productivity.

Panza Jr., president and CEO of Monongahela Valley Hospital. “We can now automatically transmit the location of every patient in our ED in real time from awareED to MEDITECH HCIS. Using the combined solution, each patient in the ED is registered in MEDITECH and assigned a patient locating tag number which triggers Awarepoint’s awareED – built on the pioneering aware360°Platform – to track and report the location of the patient as well as record patient/staff interactions. When a patient changes location, or is transferred to another room, awareED communicates the patient location in real-time to MEDITECH so hospital staff can view accurate patient locations on MEDITECH EDM’s big screen tracking grid and workstation status views.
