Upon patient arrival, they are assigned a patient badge which associates the badge’s location with that patient throughout their cardiovascular department visit and location information is automatically and accurately captured through our ZigBee-based Real-time Location System.
Patient location, movement and interactions with tagged staff and clinical equipment trigger automatic updates to the web-based software which employs cardiovascular unit workflow rules to recognize patient care milestones. Staff access unit-level department views such as Registration, Pre-Op, Procedure Unit, Post-Op/Recovery to anticipate and manage their workflow. The surgery schedule is presented electronically with updates on status occurring automatically. Roadblocks to care progression can be quickly flagged as well as checklist items reviewed all ensuring that patient flow is not delayed because of a lack of information on the status of a patient. The awareCVUTracker solution even anticipates patient flow between procedure units through dynamic watch-lists which indicate when patients will be ready to move to the next stage in their care. Integrated reporting provides retrospective analytics to assist in further workflow optimization.
